6 Natural Health Remedies For Common Symptoms

Donna Sergi • Oct 03, 2019

There are natural remedies for just about any health-related issue, it’s just a matter of being open to trying something new sometimes. Nutrition Response Testing can address issues of any size ( these are some bigger, more serious ones ) but there are smaller ailments that can be addressed at home too. These are some common ones.

Cold and flu: try fire cider

As winter approaches, patients often ask me if they should get a flu shot, and my answer is always no (this is why. ) I prefer natural health remedies like fire cider instead. It is very effective because of the anti-bacterial, anti-viral, immune-boosting properties it contains. Take a spoonful daily for preventative care or a few times a day if you’ve already been hit with a cold or the flu. I love this recipe.

Nausea: try ginger

Ginger has been used for hundreds of years to combat nausea (including pregnancy-induced nausea, morning sickness.) Try chopping some and adding it to your water or even chew on a little piece by itself. Stay away from ginger-flavored products like soda and candy. They won’t work because they usually don’t contain actual ginger in the first place. Plus they are filled with unnecessary refined sugars.

Gas: try activated charcoal

Activated charcoal is a growing trend and with good reason. It is a great natural health remedy for a number of issues and even has beauty benefits. It helps by addressing gas because it attaches to the fluid in your gut. That can create an environment that reduces or eliminates the discomfort.

Headaches: try peppermint oil

Peppermint oil , when applied topically, creates surface warmth. That aids with pain relief beneath the skin. Try rubbing some on your temples, forehead, and even the back of your neck. Some find it helpful to add a heat pack (rice ones are great) and let it sit on your forehead or back of the neck after the oil has been applied.

Bad breath: try oil pulling

Oil pulling can freshen your breath for much longer than a mint. Swish a tablespoon of organic coconut oil in your mouth for 20 minutes each day before cleaning your teeth. You can even multi-task and do it while you’re in the shower. Besides improving your breath, oil pulling can also help do things like whiten teeth and prevent cavities and gingivitis.

Back pain: try chiropractic

This one is worth taking the trip outside the house! Chiropractic care addresses the nervous system and musculoskeletal system to help with a myriad of health issues, including back pain. I help my chiropractic patients by finding misaligned vertebrae and improperly moving joints. Then I make an adjustment, also known as spinal manipulation. Back pain is just one of many things chiropractic can help with.

This article outlines other issues chiropractic can address.
