What is nutritional therapy?

I often have patients ask, “what is nutritional therapy exactly?” when they contact me about Nutrition Response Testing. To understand nutritional therapy, you need to first understand nutrition.

Nutrition is so much more than just a food label. It’s not only about how this food is healthy and that food is not. Nutrition is the process of how our body utilizes nutrients found in foods for health and vitality. The cells that create your tissues, organs, and systems all rely on nutrients. That’s why the foods you eat (or don’t eat) have a direct effect on your health.

So now that you’ve got a quick snapshot on the science behind nutrition, let’s move on to answer “what is nutritional therapy?” Nutrition Response Testing, a form of nutritional therapy, is based on the proven theory that your body knows what’s wrong with it. Many of us don’t realize that the health-related symptoms we experience are our body’s way of telling us it has an issue. It’s up to you to be mindful of your body and recognize when something is off. It’s my job to determine the root cause of your symptoms and alleviate them.

I do that by conducting a comprehensive health history and a series of non-invasive muscle tests. The tests allow me to see which organs aren’t functioning properly. When your organs are stressed by a food sensitivity, nutrient deficiency, or toxic substance, I’ll catch it in the assessment. Then I’ll put together a customized plan that includes nutrition, whole food supplementation, and lifestyle guidance to educate you on your incredible journey to optimal health.
