It goes without saying, but one of the best ways to improve your health is by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables. Organic produce is great for us because it is unaltered by any artificial ingredients and hasn’t lost any nutritional value from processing. Sometimes, however, eating our fruits and vegetables seems more like a chore than an opportunity to nourish our body. To easily incorporate more fruits and veggies into your diet, try following these nutritional food tips.

Start your day with fruit

Get going with your fruit servings early by adding it to whatever you’re eating for breakfast! You can blend up your favorites in a smoothie, add it to your oatmeal or or use it to top off whole grain pancakes and waffles. If you feel like you might forget, leave a bowl of fresh fruit out on the table as a reminder.

Replace carbs with vegetables

There are tons of ways you can use vegetables as a replacement for carbs. If you’re looking for an easy starter recipe, check out this blog post I wrote on spaghetti squash ! You can also try homemade sweet potato fries, cauliflower rice, zucchini noodles and lettuce wraps.

Snack on veggies

Instead of reaching for processed junk food in between meals, eat some raw veggies - like carrots or celery - with hummus or peanut butter. Many grocery stores now sell pre-packaged veggie snacks so you don’t have to worry about finding the right portion (just make sure there are no additives.).

Have fruit for dessert

If you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth after dinner, top some non-fat yogurt with your favorite berries or dip some frozen bananas in dark chocolate. Fruit naturally contains sugar, so you’ll still be getting your sweet fix along with an additional serving of produce.
